"I feel itís something that is always there, something youíre born with that gets lost along the way, or stolen by others. Sometimes you have to dig deep to find it again."

Itís easy to look at an object but how much do we really notice about it. In these exercises weíll explore natural objects from unusual points of view. Youíll be able to hear what curators say, as well as to think yourself into the character of the object its self.

Wellbeing benefits:

Think clearly
Make mind up
Feel close to others

Examples of how this activity can help me:

I want to be more confident when talking with others.

30+ minutes.

Who can I do this activity with?

On my own or with others. It’s great to hear writing from people who’ve chosen the same object.

Where can I do this activity?

Indoors - online using the Virtual Museum, or offline using print outs.

How often can I do this activity?

Try it with different objects.

What do I need?

  • Paper
  • Pen
  • Using the Virtual Museum online means the object can be viewed a full 360 degrees. Print off images of the objects are also available. Our Virtual Museum objects are from The Manchester Museum; hear what the curator says about the objects, online, though we recommend doing this after writing about the object, so as not to be influenced by what is said

Did you know?

Through reading and writing we can improve our communication skills. As it broadens our vocabulary and can enable us to articulate ideas and opinions more effectively to others.

"I enjoyed writing about a fossil that had died a very long time ago."
