Build Your Confidence - Portrait Of You - Collage

"I think what Start2 has to offer is fabulous. It educates people in to understanding how to read emotions and to empathise rather than criticise. This is one of life’s essential tools we should all have. I also like how it subtly involves spiritual practices without preaching. "

Step 9: Mount your work

Brighten your living space with your ‘Portrait of You’ collage.
If you’d like to put your work on the wall you should think about mounting your work. Depending on the size of your hand, an A4 piece of card acts well as a mount.

Use Complementary colours:

You could choose a complementary colour that contrasts with the colours in your work.
Complementary colours are opposite each other on the 'Colour Wheel' (above) For example, Red and green, yellow and blue. These colours go well with each other. Using contrasting colours is useful when you want to make colours stand out.

Use a favourite colour:

Is there a particular colour that you like in your work? You could match that colour with your background mount, this’ll bring that particular colour out in your work. If you have many colours in your work you might want to try out different colour backgrounds to see which one you like the most. You can do this by taking your collage to a shop that sells card and simply holding it against various coloured card until you find the one you like the best. Most shops don’t mind you doing this if you are careful. Some shops have staff who can help you, so just ask.
