Psychologists Sandra Duclos and James Laird have demonstrated that holding your mouth in a smile makes you more responsive to humour and more predisposed to like something. If it makes you start laughing with embarrassment, all the better! Laughing for 15 minutes every day can improve the efficiency of your immune system by lowering the levels of cortisol in the body. Cortisol suppresses the immune system so lowering its levels enhances the work of the immune system, and may prevent disease.
