Improve Your Mood - Travel Journal - Collage

Instead of taking photos, keeping a sketchbook or writing a diary, this travel journal is a scrapbook-style memoir of your travel experiences. You don’t need to be able to draw, or be a whiz at creative writing or photography. Learn how to capture your experiences visually, using recycled materials you can pick up easily when out and about.

What do I need?

  • Scissors and/ or a scalpel and cutting mat 
  • Glue (glue sticks are good for this activity)
  • Pencil, eraser and sharpener (for drawing shapes to cut out, if you want to)
  • Brochures, maps, guides, leaflets, tickets, postcards, receipts, wrapping paper, bags, newspapers - things you’ve picked up on your day out/ journey
  • A small sketchbook or blank sheet note book* 

 

*Tip:

Heavy quality paper is best, as it will support more glued images and will not buckle. Small books are the most portable, spiral bound will expand the most easily to allow for collage.
