Step 3: Create your poem

  • Write a poem or piece of writing based on these chosen words or phrases. If you are writing a poem keep it simple

 

Remember a poem doesn’t have to rhyme. Don’t worry if you can’t find a way to use all of your selected words or phrases.  

 

Take a look at this example to give you an idea. There is no right or wrong way of doing this exercise.

 

Edelweiss - Courage (“I squared my body and took a breath….”)

I squared my body to the expanding horizon, overwhelmed by the light that blinded my eyes, there was nothing to see. I had to go forward there was no other choice but to follow instructions from a loud shouting voice. I felt like a sailor on the edge of the world, if I reached the horizon I would surely fall off. I squared my body and took a deep breath.
