Take Charge - Paint a Simple Landscape

Creating the sky using ‘Wet on Wet’ technique

Step 1: Choose your colour

Sky - Wet on Wet Technique

Choose a colour for your sky from the ones you prepared. It needn't be a typical sky colour

Step 2: Wet your paper

Dampen the top third of your paper with clean water as shown

Sponging the paper

Step 3: Create your sky

Create your sky

Add some splodges of paint to get some soft edged areas, as shown

Tip:

You don’t necessarily need to add lots of colour at this stage, as the sky can look more effective if left lighter than the rest of the painting.  Also, areas of the paper left white work well as clouds.
