Get cosy and creative

Virtual care

We’ve seen recently that NHS Tower Hamlets CCG have commissioned an online ‘web-tool’  to encourage patients in London to self-manage their mental health. With an anticipated autumn launch date the tool aims to ‘improve Londoner’s mental wellbeing by offering an open access digital service which is available all year round.’ The Tower Hamlets initiative is another step forward in the drive to improve access to care by utilising digital technologies. Norman Lamb has put forward a proposal to give more rights for people with mental health conditions, with an emphasis on community support as an alternative to hospital. Given the ever-increasing financial pressures mental health services are facing alongside a marked increase in demand for their services Start2 wonders what solutions to these issues will be put forward.

This current news once again brings the question of whether digital care and digital toolkits need to be taken more seriously?

With managing self-care at its core, Start2 is one of a number of varied and innovative online mental health care tools now available. If you’d like to read a little more about this field click to read the full Start2 article here.
