National Stress Awareness Day - Wednesday 4th November

We are all vulnerable to stress in our lives that can build up over time if we’re not careful. Whilst a little bit of stress keeps us alert, too much stress can reduce our quality of life, health and wellbeing. There are many factors that can contribute to stress so what can we do to build up our resilience to stress?

Start2’s Stress Busting section offers tools to build skills to combat and manage stress wrapped up in enjoyable creative packages, from mindfulness exercises to simple mood boosting activities to gentle physical activities. Find what works for you.

This year’s Stress Awareness Day focuses in particular on ‘Workplace Wellbeing.’ Here at Start2 we’ve put together some micro activities to do at work to boost productivity and mood.

World Kindness Day - Friday 13th November

World Kindness Day is built upon the idea that we can make change in the world through acts of kindness.

Kindness: noun

- the quality of being friendly, generous, and considerate.

- a kind act.

Kindness can encompass many things, for example, smiling at a stranger in the street, the word’s you use when speaking to others, offering to carry someone’s bag, going shopping for a friend, and so on. It’s also about being kind to your self. Why not try our Wondrous Words activity to make your self or a friend or family member a piece of artwork or card. Or send an e-card with an invite for a chat, coffee, or suggestion to do one of our creative activities together.

"What sunshine is to flowers, smiles are to humanity. These are but trifles, to be sure; but scattered along life's pathway, the good they do is inconceivable." Joseph Addison - English essayist, poet and politician
