Winter light
You’ll also notice the quality of the light on a winter’s day. Days can look very gloomy, especially as in the depth of winter it gets dark early and so the nights are long. The sun seems to take ages to come up, and have you noticed that it stays low in the sky, being near the horizon all day? This makes the shadows long and the light slants in horizontal rays, making a warm and attractive glow on a bright, frosty day.
